Dear Parents of our Parish's Middle and High School Teens,
Hello! This is the second edition of our "Online Parent Ministry!" Every Tuesday, an email like this will be sent home to you. Here are some things you can expect to be included each week... there will be a theme, links to articles, conversation starters, videos, and much more to help you know more about your teen's world.
One permanent feature of our Online Parent Ministry is the "Family Experiences." Click on the link below and then click on whatever grade your teen is in this school year. You will find a few downloads including a page called "the Development Guide" that details all the physical, spiritual, and social changes your teen will experience at that particular age. It's full of good information! The other pages will help you plan that year's "Family Experience."

Dear Parents,
There is no doubt that teenagers today are growing up in a complex world where they have to learn how to navigate so many difficult issues. They face questions about their identity, tremendous pressure to perform, complex relationships, and a social landscape that is pushing them in so many directions.
As parents, part of your job is to help your teens sort through these issues in a healthy way that will lead them to be who God has created them to be. The Catholic Youth Community of St. John Neumann wants to help you do just that by providing you with some excellent resources in 3 this week's Online Parent Ministry!
Check out this week's resource called, "Challenges – A Family Devotion. It is designed to help you provide your teenager(s) with a reminder that sometimes we need to take some time as a family to pause to seek the Lord together.
It’s a helpful resource you can use to open ongoing conversations with your teenager(s)—reminding them that the family unit is God’s design to be the primary place for experiencing His love and care. Sometimes, this gets out of whack and needs a reset. But a positive atmosphere in the home can only be achieved when everyone is doing their part to create it.
Here is this week's "Sunday Alive!" At this Sunday's Mass (Sunday, November 5th), we celebrate the 31st Sunday of Ordinary Time!
Sunday Alive is another resource that will help you and your family be more present and prepared to receive the message of the Mass! Read the readings before you come to Church, and take a look at the rest of the "Sunday Alive!" handout. It also contains the Saint of the Week, discussion questions for the family on the message of this Sunday's Gospel, and much more! Enjoy!
Teens are constantly being exposed to and viewing porn. It's a big problem!
The subject has come up a few times in our small group discussions this year. Parents - check out this video from the Archdiocese of Detroit on how to talk to your kids about this subject. I hope it is helpful!
